Recovery doesn't have to be as hard as you're imagining.
Cold compression therapy is common in physiotherapy clinics across New Zealand. Now you can use the same approach at home, reducing swelling faster, regaining mobility sooner, and getting back to the life you love.
THE PROBLEM
What most people don't know about surgery recovery
Post-surgical swelling peaks at around 72 hours after your operation. What happens in that window has a significant effect on the weeks and months that follow.
Swelling is the main barrier to early movement. And early movement is the main driver of recovery speed. The faster you can safely reduce that swelling, the faster you can do your physio exercises, rebuild strength, and get back on your feet.
Ice packs alone can't do this. They provide cold, but no compression and it's the compression that actively moves fluid through the lymphatic system and out of the joint.

from 31 reviewsI cannot recommend the Isopress cold compression therapy device highly enough. Having undergone a right total knee replacement 11 weeks ago, my recovery has been dramatically better than after a similar operation on my left knee 18 years ago.
From the time I was discharged from hospital until the end of week 10, I used the Isopress machine three times daily for 20 minutes at setting no 7 following my structured post-operative knee exercise programme. I required only regular paracetamol for pain relief β a completely different experience from my recovery in 2008 β and my range of movement return has been excellent.
The Isopress equipment is straightforward to use and performed flawlessly throughout my recovery. On the one occasion I required a small fitting for the device, my email enquiry was answered immediately and the replacement part was sent promptly and free of charge.
I fully endorse the positive reviews already posted about this outstanding device.
Following full knee replacement I started using Isopress 3 times daily after exercises. By 6 weeks I had good movement and was regularly cycling and playing golf (walking). Im sure the Isopress sped up the rehab considerably.
I had a full knee replacement February 25 and used the Isopress Cold Compression kit extensively post operation for four months. I'm a keen mountain biker, skier and hiker.
This kit is fantastic and got me back on the bike in no time, skied a full season (including back country ski touring) six months after the operation and have completed five great walks / bikes within a year of the operation.
I have found Brad and his crew great to deal with and would highly recommend Isopress.
I am a keen biker and after 2 plus hours on the bike everything is sore. Isopress ice compression kit is such a great relief for my painful foot as the summer season kicks in. The back, knee and shoulder cuffs are in use also. Fantastic product and great value
This machine has been a godsend. We were recommended to hire after my wife had a knee replacement. I went on a search and found the Isopress units. The investment has been worth every penny!! Having a rare bone disorder left her in a panic that the healing process was going to be extended but with the use of the Isopress daily she is already taking Walks down the road. We 1000% recommend this unit and i may even need it for my gammy golf shoulder. You were super easy to deal.with and the unit is exactly as promoted. If you are having a surgery or need to recover from injuries etc you cant go past this unit!!
You will not regret this - make the investment for your health and wellbeing and recovery. This is hands down the best recovery aid on the market! Super easy to setup and use with three different compression options and three different timing settings for each compression mode. I absolutely love my Isopress. I told my surgeon to recommend purchasing them to all of his patients due to the wonderful benefits. I will be an isopress user for life!!
Just had my 14th knee surgery. Complete removal of my ACL graft and screws, a lot of debridement anterior and posterior and then a high tibial osteotomy. The Isopress cold compression machine is an absolute necessity. A game changer for recovery. If you are on the fence - please take it from a very seasoned 43 year old in knee surgeries that this is your sign to make the purchase. I promise you - you wonβt regret it. To ice my knee instead of taking pain meds has been so beneficial in my recovery. I am now 17 days post op and am miles ahead in my recovery to what the expectation was. I whole heartedly recommend purchasing one for post surgery use and general day to day use to aid with inflammation, aches and pains. This is short term pain (the cost) for long term gain (the benefits). It is an absolute no brainer! Go on - you owe it to yourself to get ya hands on one. I rate it 10 out of 10 stars!
I used the cold compression kit after my full knee replacement, and it made a noticeable difference in my recovery. By significantly reducing swelling, the main barrier to performing strengthening exercises, it helped me progress more quickly.
The relief after completing my daily exercises was immediate and very welcome in the days following surgery.
The kit was extremely easy to use, and the cushion comfortably inflated around my entire knee while I rested on the couch, providing instant soothing relief. I would highly recommend it as part of post-surgery recovery.

Buy vs rent - the maths
-
Rental - other companies
On average, rentals are around $360 per fortnight, though many prices aren't listed publicly. For one month of use, you're looking at around $740.
Rental might suit those who have a minor injury, aren't too concerned about the pain or are willing to test it for a short period.

Purchase - Isopress
Isopress is $599 one-off. We wanted to bring it to Kiwis at a cost that made it more accesable, but could be used for the long term. Many people purchase one for the family, needing only to purchase a cuff for different injuries.
Most joint replacements have a recovery period of 8-12+ weeks and we know our customers continue to use their kits for years to come.
Frequently Asked Questions
My physio hasn't mentioned Isopress. Should I be concerned?
Not at all. Isopress is a direct-to-consumer brand and we're still new! Many physios are familiar with cold compression therapy as a category, show your physio the product and ask whether it's appropriate for your recovery.
Is it safe to use at home?
Yes. The kit is designed specifically for home use with preset safety functions including automatic cycling and timer controls. It's super easy to use.
Always use it as a complement to your surgeon and physio's guidance.
When should I start using it after surgery?
As soon as your surgeon or physio gives the go-ahead. For most people that's within the first 24 to 72 hours post-op. That early window matters. Always check with your medical team first.
Is it just an expensive ice pack?
No. Ice packs do one thing: cold. Isopress does two: cold and intermittent compression. The compression cycles automatically, creating a pumping effect that actively moves fluid through the lymphatic system, the part that causes and sustains inflammation. That's what ice packs can't do.
How long before I notice a difference?
Most customers notice relief within the first 1β2 sessions. Significant reduction in chronic inflammation typically takes consistent daily use over 1β2 weeks. Everyone with chronic pain knows their particular symptoms are different and may be changeable. It's hard to guarantee results so it's always worth checking with your medical professional to see what they think.
